Yoga Teacher Training … Celebrating the Journey

Yoga Teacher Training … Celebrating the Journey Yoga Teacher Training This Video Tells it All

Last September my life changed rather dramatically. As I mentioned, I signed up for a 9-month long yoga teacher training with YogaMotion. I’d practiced asanas as exercise since 2000. And almost took the teacher training twice, but the timing wasn’t right. Learning Yoga Teacher Training … Celebrating the Journeyin early September that two friends had already registered for this course provided just the goad I required to sign up as well.

An overflowing cup
Wanting to focus on the course, the required home study meant cutting back in a number of areas. Including way less frequent blog posts, and reducing my cooking classes to teaching only one class (but what a great class) in the past 7 months.

Most importantly, though, the yoga teacher training has become a rich journey of self-discovery and transformation. Even if (and perhaps especially because) it’s been accompanied by stress, struggle and overwhelm as my cup has begun to empty.

Seven months into it (with 2 more to go)
Last month we were asked to present a talk on our yogaYoga Teacher Training … Celebrating the Journey journey thus far. A few days ago I found the video of my “5 Aha’s” talk in my inbox. Watching it brought me much joy. Along with the realization of how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned. And how much further there is to travel.

Vulnerable
I’ll admit to my feeling a bit vulnerable in sharing this video of my talk with you. At the same time, though, I’m grateful to offer you a bit more of the essence of yoga. For as I now know, yoga is so much more than just physical exercise.

My “5 Aha’s”
Click here for the video. Filmed with an iPhone, both the volume and the resolution are a bit low. Though, I believe my joy transcends both issues. Take a moment to turn up your volume and you won’t miss a word.

An important takeaway
No matter the stress, the struggle, the effort, pursuing the teacher training has enlivened my life, and made me stronger and more flexible in body, mind and spirit.

that allows us to feel alive.”

  1. Thank you for continuing to share yourself so openly. You are gifted in so many ways and honored to witness your amazing journey. My favorite tea cup by the way!

    1. Hi Maribeth,
I’ve told Janice often how much I love that teacup also!
So colorful and uniquely shaped; just brings a smile to look at it. Part of the joy of Janice’s blog is her creative table settings and photos.
Not just saying that because she is my sister – she has always spread joy.
      Nice ‘chatting’ with you.
      Sharon

    1. Yes, in our Western culture we can certainly go way past the common ideas about yoga as just another form of exercise. I am grateful to have begun to dive deeper and see the pearls.

  6. Hi Janice,
Loved this blog about ‘food for the soul’!
So difficult to always remember it is the journey not the destination that is so important. A reminder I need constantly.
Your yoga journey is expressed so beautifully.
By the way, I carry a ‘breathe’ intention stone in my pocket or hand most every day.
    Would you like one?

    1. Thank you, Sharon, yes, I’d love an intention reminder to breathe that I can carry with me.
Love your description of this post as “food for the soul.” I hadn’t thought of that, but you’re so right.

  7. Janice, Thank you for sharing your Aha video. It was well done and gave many thoughts about the daily path we all walk. Eileen
