A Taste of India Cooking Class Saturday, February 10th in Bozeman, Montana
A well-balanced Indian meal includes all six tastes—sweet, sour, salty, spicy, bitter and astringent. It’s the balance of tastes and textures and ingredients that we’ll be exploring during the February 10th A Taste of India Cooking Class. Every part of the menu from main dish to side, salad, chutney and dessert contributes to that balance. Be inspired by the exotic aromas and complex flavors.
Spices—the heart of Indian cuisine
India produces, consumes and exports more spices than any other country in the world. Yet many people mistakenly think of Indian food as all spice and fire. However, chili is only one of the many spices used. Indian cuisine features cumin, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, turmeric—aromatic spices, robust spices and peppery spices.
In A Taste of India Cooking Class you’ll have an opportunity to smell and taste many of these essential Indian spices. Plus, you’ll learn techniques for blooming/tempering spices to deepen and intensify their flavor.
